Who Created God?

According to the Bible, God is uncreated and has always existed. This concept, known as divine aseity, asserts that God is self-existent and not contingent upon anything or anyone else for His existence. Isaiah 43:10 emphasizes this, stating, "Before me no God was formed, nor shall there be any after me." This attribute of eternal self-existence challenges human understanding, as it transcends the finite nature of our existence and experience.

The Significance of Understanding God's Nature

Understanding that God is uncreated and has always existed provides a foundation for faith that is deeply comforting and awe-inspiring. It assures believers that the God who interacts with them is the ultimate authority and the original source of all that is good and true. In times of uncertainty or challenge, just as when a white feather appears, this knowledge can be profoundly reassuring, affirming that God is and always has been in control, overseeing the tapestry of life with a masterful and loving hand. The Bible offers a rich tapestry of descriptions and attributes concerning who God is, providing insight into His character, nature, and the way He interacts with humanity.

Eternal and Unchanging

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Psalm 90:2) For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. (Malachi 3:6)

Creator of All

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through him and for him. (Colossians 1:16)

Omnipotent (All-Powerful)

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns." (Revelation 19:6)

Omniscient (All-Knowing)

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (Psalm 147:5)

Omnipresent (Present Everywhere)

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. (Psalm 139:7–8)

These scriptures collectively paint a picture of a God who is both transcendent and immanent, powerful yet personal. Understanding these facets of God's character deepens our appreciation of His interactions with humanity and the universe, shaping how believers live out their faith in response to His profound and multifaceted nature.
